Living with a chronic illness it is important for you to eat healthy. You should aim for a well-balanced diet that includes plenty of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. It should also include moderate amounts of meats, poultry, and oily fish. If you have Fibromyagia or Lupus (or both), following a varied, healthy diet may help reduce inflammation and other symptoms.

When inflammation occurs, chemicals from the body's white blood cells are released into the blood or affected tissues to protect your body from foreign substances. This release of chemicals increases the blood flow to the area of injury or infection, and may result in redness and warmth.

Food that cause inflammation in the body includes:

  • Sugar.

  • Vegetable-Oil.

  • Fried Foods.

  • Refined Flour.

  • Dairy.

  • Artificial Sweeteners.

  • Artificial Additives.

  • Saturated Fats.

Foods that can help inflammation in the body includes:

  • Eating generous amounts of fruits and vegetables.

  • Consuming healthy fats, such as olive oil and canola oil.

  • Eating small portions of nuts.

  • For some, drinking red wine in moderation.

  • Eating fish on a regular basis.

  • Consuming very little red meat.

In order to eat healthy it’s essential that you eat a balanced diet. Be sure to include a healthy balance of nutrient-rich carbohydrates such as fruits, vegetables, and roots like potatoes. It’s important for you not to skip meals, especially with the medications you are taking. Remember to feed your body.

Try not to drink chemicals masquerading as food, and reduce your alcohol intake, as well as eat fewer unhealthy fats and empty calories. Be sure to eat more nutrient rich foods.

There are many other forms of diets that may suit you better. This can include a Vegan or Gluten Free diet as well. Please speak with your doctor to make sure which ever diet you chose will be a healthy choice for you.
